The Seattle Robotics Society Workshop Robot Level One Kit provides an affordable mobile robot platform that is
great for beginners. You'll learn to assemble the robot, solder the controller board, and program the robot to do a variety of tasks such as follow a line maze and avoid obstacles. The kit can be programmed in either C or Bascom Basic, and includes extensive sample code in both languages.
The kit also gives you room to grow. It is designed to be expandable, so it makes a great test/development platform for intermediate roboticists. The Level Two kit (available separately) adds an expansion breadboard, LCD, distance sensors and more.
The finished robot is approximately 6" square.
The manual (3.2MB) contains detailed assembly instructions and thouroughly commented sample code (160k) in both C and Bascom Basic. You can also download a single zip file containing both the manual and sample code, as well as a collection of the relevant datasheets.
The Level One Workshop Robot Kit includes our ARC 1.1 Robot Controller. The controller is built around
the powerful Atmel ATMEGA16 processor with 16kb of memory. You can also upgrade to an ATMega32 with twice the available memory for just a couple dollars more. The extra processor memory isn't necessary for any of the sample projects, but can be helpful as your skills improve. SOLDERING AND ASSEMBLY REQUIRED.
