The Wiring I/O board is a small (~3.5"x2") controller that packs a whole bunch of power. 43 Digital IO pins, 8 Analog input pins, and 6PWM Outputs are just a few of the capabilities that set this controller apart from the competition.
The Wiring I/O Board also includes bi-directional USB capability, allowing it to act as an interface between your PC and your robot or other electronic project. You can use your PC for additional processing power, or you can use the Wiring board to connect sensors up to your PC. You can even add an optional Bluetooth modem (available soon) to do your communication wirelessly.
What really makes the Wiring I/O Board special, though, is the Wiring Language. Wiring and the Wiring IO board were originally designed to allow artists and other non-geeks to design complex interactive art that would ordinarily be beyond their capabilities.
The Wiring environment is written in C and C++. Programs written in Wiring are translated to C++ and then run as C++ programs in the Wiring I/O board.
Large distinctions between Wiring and C/C++ are the Wiring libraries and a simplified programming style that doesn't require users to understand more advanced concepts like classes, objects, pointers (while still making them accessible for advanced users). Such technical details must be specifically programmed in C/C++, but are integrated into Wiring, making programs shorter and easier to read.
The Wiring IO Board and it's IDE are compatible with Windows, MacOS, and Linux.
The Wiring board also includes ISP and JTAG headers, and can be used as a standard ATMega128 Controller board. Tools are available to program ATMega microcontrollers in C, C++, Basic, Python, Assembler and more.

The designer of the Wiring board recently released a
slightly updated version, but we've still got a bunch of our older boards left. We want to be selling the latest version, so while supplies last, you can get
these old-style boards for $54.95. The new boards are almost identical, but have a couple of
very minor refinements, most notably TX & RX LEDs on the USB port. For a full list of the differences, see this thread on the Wiring forum.
These older boards are not lead free, and are green instead of black. All code is interchangeable between board versions with no changes.
To qualify for this special price, just order at least an additional $45 worth of regularly priced
merchandise. Just add the items to the cart, no special coupon code is required.
Your discount will be automatically applied once your order subtotal is $114.95 or higher, not including shipping
or the discount. You can get as many wiring boards as you would
like at this special price, but you must spend the extra $45 for each additional board. For example, to
get two Wiring boards for $54.95 each, your subtotal must be $229.90 before shipping or the discount.
Our shopping cart will only calculate the discount for the first board, so place your order and we will refund
the difference for each additional Wiring board ordered so long as you meet the proper minimum order requirements.
